About US

RCMHA is a humanitarian initiative established in October 2019 as a community faith-based, private, non-profit, apolitical organization based in Bamenda NWR of Cameroon. As a Non- profit organization, we provide services that facilitate the mental health challenges of victims as change makers Our Biblical oriented philosophy of unconditional love/care is the catalyst behind our services. Motivated by the love that we have experienced from God, we are committed to work with the communities in order to bring about restoration and healing to the mentally challenged. Why This Program?

Drug, cigarette, and alcohol abuse is steadily rising in Cameroon, impacting socio-cultural and developmental structures. Crises such as the Anglophone conflict, refugee influx in the East Region, and Boko Haram in the Far North have led to psychological trauma and increased addiction. In the English-speaking regions, substances like cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana, tramadol, crack, cocaine, heroin, whiskey, fighter, thyle, lion d’or, methadone, amphetamine, and khayooh gum are increasingly consumed, especially among youth. This poses a major security and health threat.

Statistics highlight the urgency:

  • WHO 2018 data: Drug abuse causes 0.32% of total deaths, ranking Cameroon 16th globally.
  • 2015 studies: 10% of users are school-aged youths and those in difficult conditions.

Our Philosophy

Our Biblical-oriented approach is driven by unconditional love and care. Motivated by the love we've experienced from God, we are committed to restoring and healing those with mental health challenges. Inspired by the ongoing conflicts in the North West and South West Regions, we intensify education, consultations, and treatment to help affected individuals regain their lives and contribute meaningfully to the community.

Our Approach

We adopt a developmental strategy, targeting schools, churches, and vulnerable young people through society and outreach activities. Over the years, we've designed campaigns and programs to raise awareness, provide treatment, and give direction and purpose to those affected by mental health issues.

Our Objective

To boost awareness and understanding of mental health, challenge stigma and discrimination via outreach for sustainable recovery and well-being.

Our Teams

We have a dedicated team, including program managers who participate in community events like the Community Conversation on Drug-Free Schools (October 21, 2023, in Bamenda) and annual gatherings in Pinyin.
